Biography

Douglas Ireland serves as Manager for the Newport Beach office of Wedbush Securities. With over 20 years of experience in Finance, he began his career at Smith Barney in Orange County, where he quickly saw the benefits of a career in the industry. Doug has also held roles as Senior Vice President and Branch Manager at firms such as Morgan Stanley and Ameriprise.

As a manager, Doug’s greatest strengths lie in his ability to relate, understand, and communicate effectively with his colleagues. He has worked with hundreds of Financial Advisors over the course of his career in several offices throughout Orange County, Long Beach, and Las Vegas. Having been a producing Financial Advisor himself for over 10 years, he is able to personally understand the hurdles and frustrations faced by Advisors and is able to partner with his colleagues to create solutions to various challenges. He has a successful track record of being able to help Financial Advisors grow their practices, whether that be in sharing ideas to help bring in new clients or helping to determine the best steps to overcome obstacles in the field. Over the course of his career, he has seen and been mentored by a multitude of different types of highly successful producers and credits these mentors for teaching him the skills that he uses today to form strong relationships with his Advisors.

Born and raised in Orange County, Doug grew up in Placentia and attended Cal State Fullerton, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. He lived in Las Vegas for three years during his time with Morgan Stanley, before ultimately deciding to return back to Orange County where he currently resides with his 12 year old son, Zach. Doug is proud to have been named the “Orange County Volunteer of the Year” for his decade of work on the Cal State Fullerton’s Alumni Board of Directors and his service as President of the Alumni Association in 2002. He also served on the Branch Manager’s Counsel at Morgan Stanly in 2009. In his spare time, he enjoys playing and coaching baseball and has won several championships for both teams, including four wins in the Men’s Adult Baseball World Series Championship and being named MVP in 2014. He also actively supports groups like the RBI baseball program which offers instruction to underprivileged youth.
